In a televised address to the nation, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that Israel made a grave mistake by attacking Iran, and that it must be punished for it. The statement was reported by Reuters citing Iran's Mehr News Agency.
He further stated, “The people will never forget the blood of the martyrs and the attack on their territory.”
Addressing Donald Trump’s threats, Khamenei said, “Those who know Iran’s history are well aware that Iranians do not respond to the language of threats.”
He added that Iran will not accept peace or war imposed by force.
Aimed at the United States, Khamenei said, “They must know that Iran will never surrender. And if the U.S. launches an attack, the consequences will be dire and irreversible.” This statement was reported via Tasnim News.
It is noteworthy that this was Khamenei's first national address since Israel launched an attack on Iran last Friday (June 13). Prior to the speech, Khamenei posted on social media platform X, stating that a strong response must be given to the Zionist and terrorist rulers of Israel. “We will not show any leniency to the Zionists,” he warned.
Last week, Israel initiated airstrikes against Iran. The main targets of the attacks, which began on Friday, were Iran’s nuclear and military facilities. Several residential areas, including the capital Tehran, were also hit.
In retaliation, Iran launched counter-attacks using missiles and drones. Today, Wednesday, Iran announced that it had used hypersonic missiles targeting Israel.
